Cycling in Tuscany

While some may prefer to experience the beauty of the Italian countryside on foot, our Cycling in Tuscany Tour offers a more exclusive chance to explore this fabled region. Our unique collection of activities is designed to provide guests with a host of relaxing bike expeditions through Cortona, Lake Trasimeno, and many more stunning locations – perfect for those who’re looking for a more immersive adventure.

There’s something for everyone to enjoy with us, from the many amazing landmarks and sights to the rich culture and history – and we’re sure that you’ll find something interesting during your time here. You could traverse medieval towns, take a ferry to the nearby Isla Maggiore, eat at local trattorias, and so much more.

If you’re looking to get the most out of your Tuscan experience, this tour may be the one for you. Wine tasting at local vineyards and establishments, a 4 course cooking lesson, a stay at a traditional Italian farmhouse villa, and amazing sightseeing opportunities are just a few of the things that we have to offer.

If you’d like to take to two wheels outside of our planned itinerary, you’ll be glad to hear that we extend the option to hire an eBike. No matter how you choose to spend your time, you’ll undoubtedly delight in the truly idyllic Tuscan lifestyle.

The minimum amount of people we book per trip is two, making it ideal for couples, families, and even groups of friends who are looking to spend some quality time together. Be sure to book in soon though, as tours run from May the 16th to the 12th of September.

Tour Itinerary

  • SATURDAY – Arrival
    • “You have an exciting week in the heart of Tuscany to look forward to – and this is where it begins. To start it all off we’ll pick you up from the station and take you to your accommodation
    • We’ll then give you some time to settle into where you’ll be staying for the week (a luxury, renovated farmhouse villa) and your immediate surroundings
    • We’re sure you’ll be feeling hungry by now, so we’ll take you out into the nearby town of Cortona for your opening meal”
  • SUNDAY – Cycle Cortona
    • “For your first full day here, we’ve planned a trip back into Cortona to give you a better chance to explore the area. We’ll take you on your initial cycling tour, giving you a chance to explore this historic town and take in all it has to offer (from the beautiful scenery, to the interesting landmarks). After all this, you’ll probably have worked up an appetite, so we’ll head back to find somewhere in town to have a nice lunch. You’ll have some leisure time to enjoy afterward, which you can spend in any way you choose. With your biking equipment still to hand, you’ll be able to travel back to your apartment at your own pace (or allow us to take you).
    • At around 7pm, we’ll take you into Cortona once again, to enjoy your second Tuscan dinner of the trip.”
    • Cycle Countryside & Township
  • MONDAY – Siena & San Gimignano
    • At 9am on day two, we’ll begin the journey to the historic and iconic town of San Gimignano. Before we give you some information on the history of the location, you’ll get to enjoy a fresh coffee. Then, we’ll make sure to give you some time to explore the area in your own way; whether that’s shopping or sightseeing. At 2pm, we’ll make our way to Siena, another beautiful historic town, where your guide will take you on a little tour around the area on two wheels. Before we head out for dinner later, we’ll give you some time to do a little exploration of the town. Around 6, we’ll meet in Siena for a delicious and traditional dinner and wine.
  • TUESDAY – Cycle Lake Trasimeno & Cooking Experience
    • We’ve planned a tour of the famous Lake Trasimeno for today, and we’ll start off by picking you up at 9am. The lake is the perfect area for cycling as well as picnicking, so you may want to prepare and bring your own lunch to enjoy in this beautiful location. If you haven’t had enough excitement already for the day, we’ll take you to a cooking lesson at 3pm. Working with a professional chef, you’ll probably learn a few neat tricks while gaining some traditional experience to cook a 4 course Italian dish – which you’ll get to enjoy when you’re done.
    • Cooking Class
  • WEDNESDAY – Cycle Montepulciano
    • We have quite a lot planned for you today – and it all begins when we pick you up to and head to our first destination at 9:15 in the morning. If you haven’t had enough biking so far, you’ll be pleased to hear that we’ll take you on a cycling tour of Montepulciano. Afterwards, we’ll take you to lunch, where you’ll also get the chance to find out more about the ingredients that went into your dish (all of which are natural and locally sourced). When you’re done, we’ll give you some time to explore the area on your own – and as there’s plenty to do in this region, we’re sure that you’ll find a good way to enjoy yourself. At 3, we’ll give you the option of staying and exploring Montepulciano some more, or heading back to your apartment. After some more leisure time, we’ll take you into Cortona for another tantalizing meal that we’re sure you’ll enjoy.
  • THURSDAY – Chianti
    • Today, we have a day in the town of Chianti planned. When we arrive, you’ll get to have a coffee break while chatting with the other tour guests before having some free time to explore the gorgeous town of Castellina. For your lunch, you may be excited to hear that we’ll be eating at the Querceto di Castellina Winery – and you’ll even get a chance to taste some of their wine, too.
  • FRIDAY – Tour Free Day
    • If there’s anything you planned to do on this trip that you haven’t gotten around to yet, this may be the ideal time to do so, as your last day here is tour-free. If you’d like, we can even take you into Cortona or drop you off at the local station for you own adventures . As a thank you and farewell, you’ll get to have a traditional Aperitivo, followed by one last Italian meal.
  • SATURDAY – Departure
    • By this point, you’ve seen the wonders of Tuscany and all that’s left is to do is take you back to your station ready for the trip home. We hope that you’ve enjoyed your stay here and will remember it fondly.
