Things You Need to Do While Visiting Florence in Tuscany

From Siena to San Gimignano, there are a variety of stunning locations for you to explore in the breathtaking region of Tuscany. This part of Italy has so many fantastic towns and cities, but if you’re planning on staying for a vacation, you’re sure to want to check out Florence.

The beauty alone makes this city well worth a visit, so when you consider everything else that Florence has to offer, it’s not hard to see why so many individuals choose to explore this part of Tuscany. Whether you want to immerse yourself in the Tuscan lifestyle, or see fantastic sites; a trip to Florence should be on your agenda.

The Uffizi Gallery

In the Uffizi Gallery, you’ll find a wide range of stunning masterpieces – including works from some of history’s greatest artists, like Leonardo da Vinci and Michelangelo.

For the most part, this art museum is known for its grand collection of artwork from the Renaissance period, which alone is something that attracts over a million tourists every year. It’s also one of the oldest art galleries, which most would agree is something pretty special.

Ponte Vecchio

There may be many historic landmarks in Florence, but one that you won’t want to miss out on seeing is Ponte Vecchio – one of most iconic bridges in the world. There aren’t many bridges with buildings on them left in Florence, but thanks to the Vasari Corridor above, the houses and shops on Ponte Vecchio are still standing.

The corridor was originally built to be a secret passageway from Pitti Palace to Palazzo Vecchio. It was constructed for Duke Cosimo I de’ Medici, although it was named after Vasari, who built it. If you come for a visit, don’t forget to stop in a shop or two to buy a souvenir!

Piazzale Michelangelo

If you’re hoping to see stunning sights during your Tuscan adventure, you may want to consider visiting Piazzale Michelangelo. The observation point offers some truly fantastic views, so be sure to take in the beauty of the region from here. You may also find that walking through the streets of the area is an incredible experience too – most will find that it’s well worth the trip.
